Sensitive Skin: All Made Up
- Posted on: Aug 15 2013
No, we don’t mean that there’s no such thing as sensitive skin and that your condition is just a pigment of your imagination. So you have sensitive skin. Doesn’t mean you have to give up on makeup. Cosmetics are one of the pillars of beauty and self-confidence and glamour of women. Should you have to give that up just because of sensitive skin? We say, no, you don’t.
The trick for using make up on sensitive skin is to choose the ones that have the correct ingredients that will be extra gentle on the skin, especially on the face. Here are some tips we’d like to share with you.
- Look for products that contain glycerin, lanolin, and Shea butter. These ingredients are gentle yet highly moisturizing and will instantly improve the appearance of your skin.
- Niacinamide, or vitamin B3, is great in serums or creams for reducing redness on the skin so it can be covered up effectively with your hypoallergenic makeup. Steer clear of products that contain paraben preservatives because they can lead to inflammation when used on sensitive skin.
- Make up items infused with hyaluronic acid can reduce dry and flaky skin by moisturizing it. Avoid products containing glycolic acid, salicylic acid and retinol. These can act as irritants that dry out the skin.
- Whenever you can, try to avoid buying products that contain fragrances. No matter how subtle the fragrance is, these ingredients can trigger allergic reactions in patients with sensitive skin.
Your best bet for skin as sensitive as yours is to buy make up that is specially formulated to be gentle and hypoallergenic.
