Micro Needling with PRP

What is micro-needling?

The SkinPen by Bellus Medical uses a sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin.  This stimulates the skin’s repair process to naturally produce collagen and elastin.

What are the benefits of automated micro-needling?

Micro-Needling is ideal for smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks.  Micro-channels created by the treatment allow for optimal absoption of topical products and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), enhancing the effects in the deeper layers of the skin.

What areas of the body can be treated with automated micro-needling?

SkinPen can be used on all parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the SkinPen setting used and the number of overlapping passes that are performed. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Many patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy?

Platelet Rich Plasma is a concentration of platelets in the blood that are critical to wound healing.  When used to skin rejuvenation, PRP releases growth factors into the skin to speed up the body’s repair process and stimulate new collagen and elastin.

What does the procedure entail?

A small blood sample is taken from your body and the PRP is separated from the other components.  The PRP is then applied to the skin immediately following the micro-needling procedure.  The channels created by the micro-needling provide direct pathways to the deeper layers of the skin for optimal wound healing.  This application is an ideal treatment for smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, and scars or to improve the overall plumpness and rejuvenate the skin.
