What Is GentleYAG Laser?
The GentleYAG Laser system is our newest hair removal laser that can successfully treat all skin types. The laser creates a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into the skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat. It protects the upper layers of your skin with a cooling burst of cryogen, so that the treatment produces minimal side effects. It is a unique hair removal laser because it treats all skin types, regardless of skin color.
What Areas Does the GentleYAG Laser Treat?
The GentleYAG laser laser is specifically designed to treat hair removal, so it can safely treat just about any area of the body. It is typically used on the face, neck, chest, back, bikini sone, underarms, arms, and legs.
How Many Treatment Sessions Will I Need?
For optimal hair removal, multiple treatments are required, as the process is most effective when the hair follicle is in its active growth phase. The exact number of treatments will depend on skin type and hair growth.
Does GentleYAG Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
Some patients may feel a slight discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort resolves in several seconds and is minimized by the cooling cryogen.
Preparing for Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Patients should avoid plucking, electrolysis or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. Any hair should be completely removed by shaving, and your skin should be thoroughly cleansed and dried. The intended treatment area should not be exposed to sunlight or tanning booth light for 14 days prior to treatment.
What to Expect After GentleYAG Treatment
We suggest that patients apply a cool compress or gel pack to the area treatment for comfort. Any redness or swelling should resolve within a few hours.
Is There Downtime?
Patients can experience some redness and swelling around the area of laser treatment. Luckily, recovery for laser hair removal is quick. Most patients are able to resume normal activities without any down time required.
What Precautions Should I Take After Treatment?
After your laser treatment, you should prevent sun exposure by applying sunscreen (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleaners.
What Are The Side Effects of GentleYAG?
Risks are minimal. Side Effects may include redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated area. Normally, these do not last longer than a few days.
