Thermage

What is Thermage?

Thermage uses capacitive radiofrequency (RF) technology to safely heat deeper layers of your skin. This stimulates existing collagen and promotes new collagen growth. This results in skin that looks and feels noticeably smoother, tighter and firmer. This usually occurs in a single treatment without any down time. Some improvement is immediately visible and the skin continues to improve for up to six months.

Who can get Thermage?

Thermage is color blind which means it is safe for all skin types.

What does the procedure feel like?

When the energy is applied, you will feel a deep, but brief heating sensation. You will be asked for feedback on the level of heat sensation during the procedure. Dr. Behr usually provides oral or intramuscular medication for pain control. There is no pain once the procedure is done.

Is the procedure safe?

Thermage has an excellent safety record. Of course, as with any procedure there is always some risk. Side effects are generally mild and include redness and swelling. Rarely, blisters and bumps may occur. Dr. Behr has been performing Thermage in her office since 2004.

How long will the results last?

The procedure stimulates new collagen for up to six months following a single treatment. Results can last for years depending on your skin condition and natural aging process. The procedure can be repeated to get improved results.

How long before I can return to my normal activities?

There is no special care after the procedure and most patients return to their regular activities immediately following the treatment.

What areas can be treated?

Multiple areas on the body can be treated. The face is the most popular area treated, but thermage also works well on the eyes, abdomen, arms and thighs.
