What is BOTOX Cosmetic?
BOTOX® is specially formulated with a purified protein, which relaxes the muscles when injected in the targeted area, ultimately reducing the appearance of frown lines and facial wrinkles. It is a minimally invasive procedure, allowing patients to return to normal daily activities immediately following the procedure. A topical anesthesia can be used, if necessary.
Is BOTOX safe?
FDA approved, Botox® is a safe and effective procedure that provides patients with results that can last anywhere from 3-5 months on average. BOTOX has been used for over 20 years for a variety of medical conditions and has been FDA approved for cosmetic usage since 2002.
What are common side effects?
Following the BOTOX® procedure it is not uncommon to experience some minor swelling, redness or bruising around the targeted site. Patients can take Tylenol and/or use ice packs to help reduce swelling and relieve any discomfort. Other side effects include drooping of the eyelid, nausea, headache and respiratory infection, but only occur in about 1% of patients. They are temporary and usually resolve themselves within a few weeks.
Have patients been happy with their results?
A recent survey reported that about 97% of patients were satisfied with the results of BOTOX. Dr. Behr has patients follow up in her Fresno, CA office two weeks after their treatment to make sure they are satisfied. If a small touch up is done at this time it is usually free of charge.
How can I be sure I am getting real BOTOX Cosmetic?
Only licensed and trained healthcare professionals have the experience necessary to administer BOTOX. Dr. Behr has been using BOTOX for 15 years and is a trainer for other healthcare professionals.
